This language translator is a slick, refined device that works great. The device itself has a premium feel. In many ways, it's like a flagship phone from a couple of years ago, but smaller. Right out of the box, it's ready to go, using the included online service which includes a wide array of languages. I really like that a data package is included with the device, so it's an all-in-one package. I don't have to worry about finding a SIM or wondering if it will be compatible. But, to make use of the offline language packs, a wifi connection is required. This kind of goes against the grain, as grabbing the needed language pack seems like the first thing anyone will do. Nevertheless, I do like that this device can handle both 2.4 and 5 GHz wifi, so downloading the language pack only takes a couple of minutes.
The lock screen can be annoying. Just like a phone, this device has a lock screen that has to be swiped up to unlock and start using the device. I wish that this wasn't required or that there was some shortcut to avoid the lock screen. Having to fumble around with the lock screen gets in the way. I'd much rather just double-click a button, and return to translating. (Note that there is an option to "lift to wake" that helps a bit. You still have to swipe to unlock, though.)
In use, the translations work great. In particular, the "face to face" mode is perfect for having a more natural conversation. The screen is split in this mode, so each person has a button to push that will start listening for something to be translated. This is something that's easily understood, even if the other person has never used the device, so you don't have to waste time explaining how stuff works. I like using this mode when having a more detailed conversation because it allows for more back and forth, where each participant has the opportunity to ask questions, drill down on something, or interject. And, the accuracy is very good. When the translation is off, it's usually a minor mistake or something awkwardly phrased. Also, this mode has the option to speed up the pace of translations as both people get used to it. This is where the power of this device really pays off. Translations automatically appear (and are spoken) just one second after you stop speaking.
For one-off things and brief questions, the main translation screen works well. I like that there's a choice between male and female voices. This seems more natural to match the gender of the speaker. The male English voice is excellent. Unfortuneatley, though, the female English voice is a lot more robotic. The microphones are well positioned at the top of the device. And, this works great as you can easily hold out the translator in the direction of the other person. The mics do a pretty good job of picking up speech, too. I was able to have a decent conversation in a coffee shop.
This proofing basket is exactly what I needed to start my sourdough journey. My dough rose beautifully, and the shape held up well during baking. The included liner and cover are a great touch!
I have tried multiple water fountains for my two picky cats, and this one is by far the best. It’s quiet, easy to clean, and doesn’t splash water everywhere like some other models. My cats were curious at first, but within a day, they were happily drinking from it. The constant water flow keeps the water fresh, which encourages them to stay hydrated. Highly recommend it!
One of the things I love most about this fountain is how fresh the water stays. The filtration system does an excellent job of keeping debris out, and I’ve noticed my cats drink more because of it. Plus, it’s super easy to take apart and clean.
Refilling water bowls every day used to be a hassle, but this fountain holds enough water to last several days. Now, I only need to clean and refill it a couple of times a week. It saves me time while ensuring my pets always have fresh water.
